Dear
club members and fellow vintage vehicle enthusiasts,
It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that our annual meeting
in Brüggen this year has to be cancelled. The reason for this
is the insolvency of the hotel operator, which has rendered all previous
agreements between us and the hotel null and void. Unfortunately,
we only learned of the insolvency recently and by chance; to date,
there has been no official notification or statement from the hotel.
We have received no information despite making multiple inquiries.
As
far as we know, even the hotel staff are currently unaware of what
the future holds for them.
Despite all our efforts, we were unable to find a suitable solution.
To this day, we do not know who will take over as the new operator,
nor have we received any reliable information regarding this matter;
instead, we were repeatedly put off with vague assurances. At the
same time, there were no suitable alternative venues available in
the immediate vicinity on such short notice to host the meeting in
the format we had planned.
After several virtual meetings involving the board and the advisory
committee, we thoroughly explored all possible options. However, we
ultimately felt that hoping—right up to the last minute—that
the meeting could proceed as planned with a new operator posed too
great a risk.
It
is very important to us that our annual meeting be a pleasant, well-organized,
and successful event for everyone. Therefore, with a heavy heart,
we have decided today to cancel the meeting—a first in the history
of our interest group.
What does this mean for you?
We will not be meeting in Brüggen as planned this year.
All scheduled program items and activities are cancelled.
?We ask that you independently cancel any hotel rooms you have already
booked with the current hotel operator as a precaution.
We will, of course, refund any entry fees already paid in the coming
days.
This decision was anything but easy for us. We know how much many
of you were looking forward to the meeting—just as we were.
We deeply regret that, under the circumstances, no other responsible
decision was possible.
We thank you for your understanding and support. Naturally, we will
keep you updated on any further developments and look forward to
seeing you again at the next annual meeting.
